Photoshop: Fire text effect
Burning text is a great looking text effect. This tutorial will show you how to create a blazing inferno of burning text. That’s a great effect!
Step 1
Create a blank image with black background. Then select the Type Tool to type the text you want with white color.
Then make a copy of this text layer and hide it. Right-click on your text layer and choose “Rasterize Layer”.
Press Ctrl+A then Ctrl+X and then Ctrl+V to center the text on your image. Merge the text layer into the black background layer by pressing Ctrl+E.
Step 2
Next, use Filter » Stylize » Wind (settings: “Wind” and “From the left”). Press Ctrl+F to apply this filter again. Now use another Filter » Stylize » Wind (settings: “Wind” and “From the right”). Press Ctrl+F to apply again.
Step 3
The next step is to repeat the same process we applied but this time to the top and bottom of the image. Use Image » Rotate Canvas » 90 CCW. Apply the wind just like before, two on the left and two on the right. When you have completed this task, use Image » Rotate Canvas » 90 CW to straighten your image.
Step 4
Apply Filter » Blur » Gaussian Blur with a value of 2, then Filter » Distort » Ripple with the default values.
Step 5
Convert the image to Grayscale by using Image » Mode » Grayscale and then to Image » Mode » Indexed Color. Choose Image » Mode » Color Table and choose the Black Body table.
Step 6
Unhide the copied text layer in Step 1 and drag it to the top position in your Layer Palette. Now you have a fire text effect.
